FOCUS Project Launches Mobility Programme in the Field of Digital Cultural Heritage

The FOCUS Project invites professionals and organisations working in cultural heritage, digital technologies, and the cultural and creative industries to join its Mobility Programme by submitting an application.

The programme offers intersectoral mobility placements of up to two months between the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI–BAS) and organisations operating in the cultural heritage sector. Its objective is to promote the exchange of knowledge, good practices, and professional expertise while fostering sustainable partnerships between research and practice.

Who can apply?

The call is open to professionals from:

  • museums, art galleries, libraries, and archives;

  • non-governmental organisations working in the field of cultural heritage;

  • organisations from the cultural and creative industries;

  • institutions and companies developing digital technologies and innovations applicable to cultural heritage;

  • researchers and professionals interested in participating in intersectoral mobility.

What does the Programme offer?

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • exchange knowledge and professional experience with experts from different sectors;

  • work with innovative methodologies, digital resources, and research infrastructures;

  • contribute to research activities in the field of digital cultural heritage;

  • establish new professional contacts and long-term partnerships;

  • contribute to the development of innovative solutions for digitisation, the reuse of cultural heritage data, and the promotion of cultural heritage.

The mobility placements will support the implementation of the five FOCUS pilot projects and create opportunities for joint scientific publications and future international collaborations.

Applications for the FOCUS Mobility Programme open today, 17 July 2026. The first results and success stories from the programme will be presented at the Museum Big Data 2026 International Conference , to be held in Sofia in November 2026.

We invite all interested organisations and professionals to complete the Application Form and express their interest in participating either as a host organisation or as a mobility participant . After reviewing the submitted applications, the project team will contact selected applicants to discuss collaboration opportunities and plan the mobility placements.
